Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR)

The Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) provides a comprehensive overview of the Parish Council's financial management, governance arrangements, and accountability for each financial year.

The AGAR includes:

• The Council's annual accounting statements

• Governance and internal control declarations
• The report of the independent internal auditor
• The findings of the independent external auditor

Publishing the AGAR helps ensure transparency and accountability in the Council's operations, demonstrating how public funds are managed and supporting public confidence in local government.

The AGAR is formally considered and approved at a meeting of the Full Council. Once submitted for external audit, a Notice of Public Rights is published, giving local electors and interested persons the opportunity to inspect the Council's accounting records and related documents for the relevant financial year.
