Village Appraisal 2000
Introduction
What is a Village Appraisal?
-
It's a way of finding out what local people think of Pulborough.
-
It's a way of finding out what people's concerns are.
-
It's a way of finding out what improvements people want.
-
It's also a way of finding out what changes people don't want.
How was it done?
After several months of preparation, the questionnaires for Pulborough's Village Appraisal were delivered to
every household in the parish in April 2000. The returns were analysed in considerable depth and action plans set
in place to address many of the issues raised.
Who did it?
Team members were drawn from the Parish Council, the Pulborough Society and the Police. There was invaluable
support from the Sussex Rural Community Council (SRCC) and financial help and encouragement from Horsham District
Council
How were the results made public?
The results were issued in three forms.
-
A tabloid newspaper summary of the results and action plans was launched at a Pulborough Live day at the end of
September 2000.
-
The full results, over 50 pages packed with detail, were sent to Local Authorities and other public and private
bodies with an interest in Pulborough. Copies are available on loan from Pulborough Library.
