03/02/2012 - Hippo Salt Bag Distrbution
Horsham District Council have advised that the forecast from the Met Office for the next 2 to 5 days predicts
that the snow for Saturday will be accompanied by rain and followed by warmer temperatures and more rain. They
feel that it is unlikely we will experience the disruptive and prolonged conditions of previous years. HDC will
therefore continue to monitor the situation but will not be starting the mass distribution of bulk bags of salt at
this present time.
31/01/2012 - Register Support for Faster Broadband in Your Area
West Sussex – Better Connected and its private sector partners will be working to provide access to
broadband in all parts of the County by April 2015 and access to superfast broadband to 90% of premises by the
same date. This means that by April 2012, every house and business will have the opportunity to connect to the
internet via broadband using a commercial supplier. West Sussex – Better Connected are now encouraging all
residents and business in West Sussex to register support for faster broadband online at www.westsussex-betterconnected.org.uk. Registering your support
does not commit you to sign up to any new service. Communities that demonstrate the strongest support are likely
to be included in the earlier stages of the Broadband Improvement Programme.

21/9/2011 - Home Insulation Schemes
Horsham District Council is experiencing a large volume of calls regarding bona fide insulation schemes.
Unfortunately some of the companies currently cold calling in the Horsham District are using pressurised selling
technique, claiming to be working with Horsham District Council, and not offering the best deal for the resident.
Cavity wall and loft insulation is being subsidised nationally, typically each measure costs up to £199, however in some instances the insulation can be installed for free. Horsham District Council is working with two reputable companies HCL Energy 01273 390 420, and HeatSeekers 0800 111 4968. Any resident who is interested in having insulation installed can obtain a free, no obligation survey from either of these companies, or they can contact their own energy supplier for special deals. For example British Gas is offering free insulation for all their customers until the end of October. Residents who would like further information can also contact Horsham District Council on 01403 215281.
